  • Bath Middle School adopts Whiskeag Trail

We are the Purple House of the 7th grade of Bath Middle School. This is the Whiskeag Trail. We adopted part of the trail from Bath Trails. The Whiskeag trail travels 5 miles from the YMCA to the Thorn Head Preserve. We adopted a section of this trail to protect it and take care of it. We adopted the part from Congress Street to the Old Bath Road. We as a class feel environmental stewardship is very important, because we care about
the environment. We have taken time from our classes to clean the trail and make these brochures.

    Please keep this trail clean!

These photos from a wonderful 6/1/11 unveiling of three new student created brochures, now available in the Whiskeag Trail kiosk at McMann Field. Bath Middle School Purple House students also gave well informed and enthusiastic tours of their section of the trail.

Student tour guide Emily Bruce said “It is really the most peaceful place. Even though you are close to traffic it is a place to just sit and think.” and her classmate Christina Baker agreed by adding “I think it is good to have the natural environment around the city because when you want to get away from the crowd you can just come here.”

They are taking the lead on how to be active and effective adopters of this public resource.
