Take Action for our Environment – News from the Maine Land Trust Network: Once again, bills are being introduced to make the enhanced conservation tax incentives permanent. The incentives, recently extended in December of 2010, are set to expire on December 31, 2011. Senators Grassley (R-Iowa) and Baucus (D-Montana) have introduced Senate Bill 339, while Representatives Gerlach (R-Pennsylvania) and Thompson (D-California) plan to offer a similar proposal in the House. Maine’s Congressional Delegation has supported these measures in the past. If you wish to contact Maine’s Senators and Representatives to express concern regarding cuts to conservation funding programs or to encourage them to co-sponsor the tax incentives bills you can reach Senator Olympia Snowe at 202-224-5344; Senator Susan Collins at 202-224-2523; Representative Chellie Pingree at 202-225-6116; and Representative Michael Michaud at 202-225-6306. |
