Nature Day Camp Staff & Location

Emily and her daughter on Tumbledown Mountain last year.

Our Camp Staff

Emily Pistell, Camp Director: Emily loves to share her knowledge of the Kennebec Estuary and the wonder of outdoor exploration with students of all ages. She currently coordinates educational programming for students and families with KELT, but spent a decade working for Outward Bound as an expedition instructor and nature educator. She has two very tiny children who are just starting to poke around in the outdoors with curiosity and chaos. Emily can’t wait to spend a summer week on the shores of Sewall Pond with young adventurers exploring the forest, playing games, and dipping in her favorite pond.

Summer Program Steward and Camp Coordinator: to be hired soon!

Guest Educators: KELT Kids Camp hosts Maine Master Naturalists, forest researchers, SUP instructors, adventure educators, and local experts to share the camp experience with kids.

Holt Research Forest Outdoor Classroom

KELT is pleased to partner with the Maine TREE Foundation to use their outdoor classroom at Holt Research Forest in Arrowsic. Situated on the shores of Sewall Pond, the rustic outdoor classroom boasts a partially-walled, covered pavilion, Amish outhouse, gravel parking area, and ample access to the woods and shoreline.

Each day, campers will meet camp staff in the parking area. Then campers will take the short walk to the pavilion where bags and backpacks can be dropped off and adventures can begin!

Driving Directions: From Bath, take Route 1 North over the Sagadahoc Bridge. Follow Route 127 South (toward Arrowsic and Georgetown - Reid State Park). Stay on Route 127 for 2.3 miles. Turn left onto Old Stage Road (intersection just before the Arrowsic Town Office) and follow it for 2.5 miles. The outdoor classroom's gravel parking lot is on the right.

The map below is to the Holt Research Forest offices. The outdoor classroom is ~500 feet south on the right.
