We need seaweed enthusiasts!

Project ASCO aims to investigate how much Ascophyllum nodosum (asco or rockweed) is in Maine

When: Saturday, October 2 at 1:30 - 3:30pm

Where: Reid State Park, Griffith’s Head

KELT is partnering with the Schoodic Institute to support Project ASCO, a way to get communities, organizations, or individuals in Maine to contribute to scientific research into how much asco is there in the state.

This project aims to collect meaningful data about the natural resources on the coast of Maine. The results will be available to the public and help us understand where and how much rockweed there is.

This training session is to familiarize volunteers with the process and intertidal zone.

No experience or gear is required.

We do recommend dressing for the weather and wearing closed toed shoes that you are comfortable walking through seaweed beds in. This event will take place on slippery and uneven terrain so be prepared to learn new skills and gain knowledge about coastal Maine.
