Are you curious about how to identify trees during winter? Join KELT’s Land & Stewardship Consultant Tenley Wurglitz, and nature enthusiast Jane Harrison, for a walk at Center Point Preserve. We’ll explore how we can use bark, buds, branches, and other clues to uncover the identifies of local trees and shrubs in their winter dress!
Registration is full— thank you for your interest and please join us next year!
Center Point Preserve in Bowdoinham features a wonderful variety of tree and shrub species to aid us in practicing our identification skills! Tenley and Jane will share some of their favorite field guides for continued exploration. This is a great walk for anyone looking to build their skills as a naturalist or just get outside in winter for a walk in the woods with other nature enthusiasts.
Our pace will be leisurely with frequent stops, and we’ll cover approximately 2 miles on the trail out to Center Point and back. Depending on what the weather has provided, snowshoes or ice grippers may be strongly recommended. This walk is targeted for adults and children 10 years of age and older. No pets please.
Registration is required and this event will be capped at 12 participants.
To get to Center Point Preserve, travel to the end of Center Point Road in Bowdoinham. Parking is available on the right at the trail kiosk, and a short walk along a paved road is required to get to the trail.
