Join the City of Bath Climate Action Commission in partnership with Kennebec Estuary Land Trust, and Union & Co for "Renovating for Resiliency with Emily Mottram"
WHEN: Thursday November 21 AT 5:30 PM.
WHERE: in person at Union + Co. 31 Centre St. Bath, ME.
Presenter: Emily Mottram
In this session with Emily Mottram, we will talk about how to renovate and maintain our homes in response to the climate impacts we are seeing in Maine now. Emily is the founder and principal of Mottram Architecture, a boutique practice specializing in new homes and renovations that are beautiful, functional, comfortable, healthy, and durable. She is a co-author of Pretty Good House: A Guide to Creating Better Homes.
The book is an open-source framework and set of guidelines for building or renovating a home that focus both on its inhabitants and the environment—but keeps in mind that few people have pockets deep enough to achieve a “perfect” solution. The essential idea is for homeowners to work within their financial and practical constraints both to meet their own needs and do as much for the planet as possible.
Emily is a member of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB), the Maine Indoor Air Quality Council (MIAQC), and the Natural Resources Council of Maine (NRCM), the state’s leading organization working to protect and preserve the environment.
RSVPs are not required but encouraged at www.facebook.com/bathmaine:
This program is part of a continuing series of Bath Climate Conversations focused on learning, discussing, and connecting around ways to sustain and support our vibrant town as climate change occurs.
