Explore what makes a vernal pool and discover the interesting critters that make these important seasonal habitats their home!
When: thursday, April 18 at 10 Am
Where: Lilly Pond Community Forest, Bath
A vernal pool is a seasonal, fish-free pool of water that provides valuable habitat for a variety of plants and wildlife. Becky Kolak, KELT Executive Director, will lead participants sharing information about vernal pools' ecological significance and how to identify different critters that live in these special habitats. We will be getting into Lilly Pond forests and vernal pools to search for these animals and their habitats so this will be a hands-on event. Come ready to hike off trail and listen for chorusing amphibians calling for their springtime sweethearts!
This is a light rain or shine event and the workshop content is targeted for all ages, adults and children are welcome although Lilly Pond trails won’t accomodate a stroller due to the size of the trails.
This event is free and open to public thanks to the generosity of the Onion Foundation.
