Hockomock Point Marsh

When: Tuesday, July 10 at 7pm

Where: Bath Freight Shed in Bath

Marshes are so much more than they appear...Telling us stories about our past and helping to protect us in the future. Learn about these intriguing, dynamic habitats and how we can help them to help us!

This free evening lecture program introduces the wonder of marshes, from the types of life that can be found in them to the ways that they support our coastal communities. The program will also share how roads and historic farming have modified the way marsh systems work. For marshes to best support us and help wildlife now and in the future, they need to be able to adapt to changing sea levels. The program will highlight how some projects in local towns are helping our marshes to be ready for the future.

The talk will feature KELT’s Project Director, Ruth Indrick. Ruth manages KELT’s restoration and community science programs and spends part of her summer and fall tromping around marshes to learn about their plants and water. She is working on projects that support local marshes in Georgetown, Arrowsic, Westport Island, Woolwich, and Phippsburg.

Registration is appreciated, using the Google Form below, to help with program planning.

Before the lecture, join our friends at Maine’s First Ship!
