Count springtime salamanders and contribute to a fascinating community science project that tracks salamander populations over the years!
When: friday, may 10 at 10 Am - 11 am
Where: thorne head preserve, Bath
Not only are salamanders cute, but tracking their populations over time can contribute valuable knowledge to how this sensitive species is faring in our changing climate. Emily Pistell, KELT educator, will teach participants about salamander adaptations, lead the group to our salamander tracking plots, and guide everyone in how to find, track, and pick up salamanders in the forest. We won’t know the population size till we get there - but the springtime search is on!
This is a light rain or shine event and the workshop content is targeted for all ages, adults and children are welcome! There will a short walk to get to the salamander plots - under 5 minutes.
This event is free and open to public.
