Hosted by Bath Climate Action Commission in partnership with KELT and the Patten Free Library.
When: Wednesday, February 15th at 5:30 - 7:00pm
Where: Community Room, Patten Free Library (in-person or zoom)
Join experts from Bath and beyond to learn about the interactions between climate change and the natural landscape, and take part in a community discussion to share your thoughts and concerns.
This program is the second of a continuing series of “Bath Climate Conversations” focused on learning, discussing, and connecting around ways to sustain and support our vibrant town as climate change occurs.
This program is presented in person and on Zoom. Registration is required for Zoom only.
The program includes:
1) A introduction presentation by an expert - Justin Schlawin, an Ecologist with the Maine Natural Areas Program, Department of Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry. This section of the program will provide an overview of how the landscape in midcoast Maine might change, what characteristics of a landscape help it to remain vibrant in the face of change, and what types of landscapes can help to counteract climate change or capture carbon.
2) An overview by local leaders in Bath - representatives from the Bath Forestry Committee, City of Bath, and Kennebec Estuary Land Trust will share brief presentations about some of the actions they are using or considering that can help to sustain healthy natural landscapes in town. This section of the program is focused on what we can do in Bath to help support our landscapes and wildlife as climate change occurs.
3) A facilitated discussion, where community members can ask questions and share thoughts.
More Bath Climate Conversations are on their way later this winter!
The first “Climate Conversation” program was last October and focused on climate change and the built environment. The third program is scheduled for March and will be focused on climate change and the waters that flow in and around Bath.
