Conservation Organizations offer series of birding walks in the Midcoast Region
One of the joys of spring is the return of birds of all shapes, sizes and colors. Who doesn’t love stepping outside to a chorus of birdsong or catching a glimpse of bright red or yellow in the trees? To help you identify and learn more about our local birds, several conservation groups collaborate each spring to offer the Birding Extravaganza!
Advance registration is required. Visit the website for each organization for more information.
Spring Birding Walk with Nat Wheelwright
Hosted by the Harpswell Heritage Land Trust
Spring is a wonderful time for birding as the migrants return and males begin to sing in earnest, defending their territories and attracting mates. Join naturalist and birder Nat Wheelwright at Otter Brook Preserve to see how many birds you can identify using your eyes and ears. With practice, it is easy to learn to recognize different species and even something about the individual birds.
Please wear appropriate footwear for walking and bring binoculars, if you have (or can borrow) them. This event is capped at 15 participants and will proceed rain or shine. Advance registration is required.
