Conservation Organizations offer series of birding walks in the Midcoast Region
One of the joys of spring is the return of birds of all shapes, sizes and colors. Who doesn’t love stepping outside to a chorus of birdsong or catching a glimpse of bright red or yellow in the trees? The new warmth of spring and the longer days draws birds to make their spring migration. The window of time before the leaves come out provides a perfect opportunity to get a good look at our spring migrants. To help you identify and learn more about our local birds, several conservation groups collaborate each spring to offer the Birding Extravaganza!
All events are free and open to all, but advance registration is required. Visit the website for each organization for more information.

Jeff Romano, MCHT's Senior Public Policy Manager (and hiker/birder extraordinaire), will guide us on an early evening bird walk through Woodward Point Preserve in Brunswick. We will take a leisurely stroll while exploring field, forest, and shoreline habitats for migratory songbirds, waterfowl, and resident avian species. The walk will conclude after sunset, as we scan the preserve’s open landscape for American Woodcock showing off their timberdoodlin' courtship displays!
Bring your binoculars, sturdy walking shoes, and an extra layer for the end of the walk. Advance registration is required; limited spots are available. Woodward Point was conserved with the partnership of Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust.
Organized by Maine Coast Heritage Trust.
