Join KELT to discover the Springtime Splendor for Amphibians!

Where: Lilly Pond Community Forest in Bath

A vernal pool is a seasonal, fish-free pool of water that provides valuable habitat for a variety of plants and wildlife. Participants will explore the basics of what makes a vernal pool and discover the interesting critters that make these important seasonal habitats their home.

Maine Master Naturalist volunteers, Becky Kolak, Jane Harrison, and Terry Porter will lead participants sharing information about vernal pools' ecological significance and how to identify different critters that live in these special habitats.

Come ready to hike off trail and listen for chorusing amphibians calling for their springtime sweethearts!

Lilly Pond Community Forest in Bath’s south end will serve as an excellent backdrop to explore Maine’s vernal pools. This is a light-rain or shine event is family friendly. Please wear closed-toed shoes and clothing appropriate to hike off trail on uneven terrain.
