Beers & Biology! Hemlock Woolly Adelgid Walk & Talk
When: Saturday, April 29th at 2:00pm to 4:00pm
Where: Sasanoa Brewing & Tarbox Farm
Join Isobel Curtis, Midcoast Conservancy’s Stewardship Manager, and Dillon Mulhern, KELT’s Preserves Manager, to learn more about these tiny insects with a big impact. We’ll start with a talk to ground you in hemlock tree ecology, invasive adelgid ID, management of these unwanted insects, and history of their infestation in Maine. Then we’ll hit the trails to practice our ID skills and take a closer look at Hemlock Woolly Adelgid in the wild.
After our walk, we invite you to join our speakers for a beer at Sasanoa Brewing! All beer sale proceeds will be donated to Midcoast Conservancy and Kennebec Estuary Land Trust.
Please come prepared to walk outdoors on trails that will be wet and muddy.
Sasaona Brewing and Tarbox Farm is located at 61 Tarbox Road on Westport Island. Click here for a Google Map.
